As a History student at Colorado Mountain College, Rev. Clarissa was recently required to write a 20-page research paper. Her chosen topic: Paranormal investigation (a.k.a. Ghost Hunting) and how it needs to be recognized as a legitimate form of scientific research. Realizing she had bitten off more than she could chew, our Fearless Leader was not able to easily locate scholarly/peer-reviewed articles regarding paranormal investigation and only a handful of books advocating her thesis. She eventually turned to some of the biggest names in the business...Loyd Auerbach, Barry Fitzgerald, Christopher Balzano - just to name a few. CCPI was surprised at the responses she got! Most of the "experts" felt that paranormal investigation cannot and will not become recognized for 2 reasons: #1) We do not conduct our experiments in a lab. #2) There are too many variables and no controls with our experiments.
In an answer to this, CCPI has developed the Phantom Hitchhiker Project (PHP) that will launch in June of this year! There, we will rebut the reasons presented as to why ghost hunting cannot and will not be recognized by running a series of controlled experiments at roadside locations where a vehicle accident resulted in at least one human fatality. The basic objective is to either confirm or eliminate reports of phantom hitchhikers at these locations. The initial experiment will have five controls: time, temperature, location, lunar phase, and a specific set of EVP questions to be asked at designated intervals. Just as Archaeologists and Palaeontologists gather their evidence in the field and analyze it in the lab, so will we - eliminating the "need" for laboratory-based experiments. In addition to confirming or eliminating reports of phantom hitchhikers at these locations, our experiments will further contribute to the theories surrounding time, temperature and lunar phase. The project is expected to last anywhere from three months to twenty years, with an estimated twenty-five to thirty (25-30) locations having been investigated by the end of the 2010 summer.
We should have our initial results as early as August 1, 2011 and will have them posted on this page. Rev. Clarissa has already appeared on various radio shows, to include Forgotten Voices, Spirit Encounters, and the Para-X Radio show discussing the project. If you are interested in talking to Rev. Clarissa about the project, either for a show or to potentially have your team or organization adopt the project, you can e-mail her by clicking here.
